Round 4 of the grants program will add to the 124 projects already making Adelaide cooler, greener and wilder.
Green Adelaide Presiding Member Chris Daniels encouraged members of the community to add to this ripple of change by applying for funding for their own projects.
“Grassroots Grants is exactly that, it’s a program designed to put much needed funds into the hands of individuals and groups to enable on-ground action for our environment,” Professor Daniels said.
“We know that we all have a role to play in order to make meaningful change.
“That is why these grants are not just for dedicated environmental groups, but they’re also open to local sports club members looking to promote biodiversity by planting native species around their area, or businesses who wants to diversify their street verges, or community groups who want to remove pest plants from their patch.
“The possibilities are endless, and I am excited to see how our Adelaide community can make the most of this funding opportunity,” Professor Daniels said.
Professor Daniels said individuals, communities, schools and volunteers can apply for a grant between $2,000 and $150,000 to help transform their local environments.
“You can play a part in contributing to a cooler, greener, wilder Adelaide through a range of activities, like plantings, nature education, citizen science, weed and pest control, erosion management and community engagement,” Professor Daniels said.
“Grant writing workshops will be held during April to support the development of applications, and applicants will have the opportunity to refine their project idea.
“Protecting our natural areas should be a priority for all of us, and we are proud to facilitate practical, on-ground action for our environment through this program."
Applications for Grassroots Grants round 4 close on 3 May 2023.
